The Inaugural Hilo Golf Classic was hosted by Hilo Junior Golf in 1982. Today, the Classic is the only major fundraiser sponsored by the current junior golf program now known as Big Island Junior Golf Association. Proceeds from this tournament are used to subsidize the costs of its program events. Each year, help is sought to recruit family and friends to complete the entry form to secure a spot in the field of a maximum of 180 players. Junior families also donate pupu and desserts for the player luncheon and awards ceremony. The format of the tournament has varied between two person and three person modified scramble based on 25% of the team members handicap and with staggered prizes. For additional information, interested players and volunteers, please contact Brandy Volpe.
A variety of pupu and desert dishes await for our tournament players when they finish their round. A bento lunch is also provided. An awards program with staggered prizes follows.
