Aloha Everybody,
We are super excited to announce a very special event for our newest members. On the heels of an amazing West Hawaii event, our second New Member Orientation of the Year will be on Saturday April 6th in Hilo. This event is intended for those new members and their families who have recently joined the Big Island Junior Golf Association and have little to no experience with our Association or our events. We'll begin at the Imiloa Astronomy Center conference room from 1:00 till about 2:00. There we hope to answer questions like; What is a Club Play and how is it different from a Tournament? Are caddies allowed? Are Spectators allowed? What is expected of the kids when they arrive in the morning? What is expected from the volunteers? What kind of Scholarship and College Prep opportunities are available? Don't forget to bring your clubs because following the introduction, starting at 3:00 pm we will head to the Nani Loa Golf Course. At the course, we will take new members, caddies and their families through a simulated BIJGA event from checking in, starting play, moving through the fairway, and playing on around the green. After a couple holes groups will move to the score table to complete a round.
For those of us behind the scenes at BIJGA, we know all too well the feelings of excitement and nervousness on the mornings of those first few events. We were all new parents and new members at one point. We all wanted to help. But often, we just didn't know what to do. This event is intended to fill in some of those blanks and answer questions that you may have. If you do have questions, don't worry you are not alone. There is probably someone else with the very same question. This event is open to juniors as well as their family and friends. BIJGA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization committed to teaching life skills to Juniors on our Island, while developing golf skills and a love of the game that we hope will last a lifetime. We know that we couldn't do what we do without all of your help.

As always if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of our board members.
Mahalo and see you there.
